Provence which with known to keep its authenticity
particularly.
History :
The construction of the agglomeration of Lauris
probably goes back to the 11th century.
Until the end of the Middle Ages the village
was the possession of ten lords among whom the
count of Provence appeared.
Although ideally located on the road axis Cavaillon-Country
the Acute ones, Lauris suffered not to have
any port on the Durance, the Viscount of Cadenet
having the monopoly of the crossing of the river
between Pertuis and Mallemort.
At the 16th century, Lauris became the stronghold
of the Pérussis family.
The village knew a certain prosperity then and
the population increased appreciably, exceeding
the enclosure strengthened to extend in suburbs
and little by little to emphasize the plain
bordering the Durance installing there of the
market gardenings.
The village will continue to increase, little
touched by the wars of religion (Lauris will
remain catholic) and by the revolution.
To the 19th century, a certain Etienne Alexandre
Grangier will bring back Algeria in a hollow
cane, asparagus seeds. He will plant them on
the edges of the Durance. The “beautiful
one of Lauris” was going to be born. It
is now among the varieties of asparaguses more
the appraisals.
